Formed from the remnants of Perth band the Beaten Tracks in 1968, the Chain were named by singer Wendy Saddington after the authoritative soul track "Chain of Fools." Saddington presently left and the circle released one of Australia's start progressive vapors singles, "Present Me Home," in 1969. Soon later, the Chain sawn-off their byname to Chain. In June 1970, Chain recorded the classic live album, Live Chain, at Caesar's Palace discotheque, and along with other Australian acts like Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, Carson, and the Adderley Smith Blues Band, were considered at the head of the Australian blues movement.

Signing a new carry on with Infinity, the blues foot soldier of Festival, Chain released the single "Black and Blue," which reached number x on the national charts in May 1971. The classical record album Toward the Blues poorly at number six in 1971 and is considered one of Australia's sterling blues albums. The review single, "Legal opinion," established Chain as the nation's leading progressive vapors band. Chain Live Again was released in October 1972 and Chain went on to appear at the first-class honours degree Sunbury Festival in January 1972.

In 1973, the band singed with the new Mushroom label and issued the 2 of a Kind album. Chain's rotating lineup broke up in 1974 and Mushroom issued the retrospective History of Chain album. Six geezerhood later, interest in Chain was still warm and they played at the Mushroom Evolution Concert in January 1982 to keep Mushroom's tenth day of remembrance. They re-formed for good in 1983 and released Child of the Street in October 1985. Their following record album, Australian Rhythm and Blues, was released in April 1988, followed by Blue Metal in May 1990. Several members undertook a tour of Australia in 1991 as Blues Power, while some other member, Matt Taylor, toured as Matt Taylor's Chain, world Health Organization released the record album Walls 2 McGoo (Trouble in the Wind) in 1992. Life Garden originally began in 1989 with David and Su Ling Oliphant improvising an array of acoustic instruments, synthesizers, and samplers to the ground of George Dillon spoken poesy. Tragically, by the fourth dimension Life Garden's first base record album, Caught Between the Tapestry of Silence and Beauty, came out in 1991, Dillon had passed off from the results of a tenderness attack. The band would continue on with the addition of noisemakers Peter Ragan and Bill Yanok as Life Garden progressed with their usance of Buddhist and Tantric influences set to digital machination. This sound would be captured on the albums Pry Open My Mouth With the Red Knife of Heaven (1992) and Seed (1993). With Yanok's divergence in 1995, the work load of Life Garden slowed down as their 1996 album Ahitanaman was followed by only iI live performances in the yoke of deuce days. The inactiveness finally resulted in Life Garden's breakup in 1999.

With her long blond hair, wraparound dark glasses, and style tips taken unbent from Debbie Harry, Concetta Kirshner would seem the least potential someone to earn her name in the world of alternative rap, where genuineness -- especially in Kirshner's native New York City -- substance virtually as often as the music. Nevertheless, in 1994, with dreams of giving the music reality something groundbreaking, Kirshner named herself Princess Superstar and made her first demo, armed only with a four-track and two tape decks. The demo was called Mitch Better Get My Bunny, a play on run-in from a popular urban arrest musical phrase (and a pat song by AMG) at the time. The response to demonstration was prompt and gained a write up in CMJ magazine's "Futures" segment that described Princess Superstar's eclecticist mix of hip-hop, spunk john Rock, and usurious mood. She sign-language with fifth Beetle Records and recruited a computer backup band consisting of Kirsten "Pro" Jansen on drums, Doug Pressman on bass voice, and Art "F" Lavis on guitar. fifth Beetle released Strictly Platinum in 1996. CMJ called the music "super guileful hip-hop with yap away droppingly clever lyrics and inventive sampling;" A.P. went even further with its congratulations: "If you yearn for the years when a tap record was both exciting and advanced, as well as fun, Rigorously Platinum has got your advert scrawled across it...in atomic number 10 stunner lipstick." The rest of the push response was similarly overwhelming.

Next the buzz, Kirshner touched from her Clinton Street shoes to Avenue A, where she was christened "The Queen of Avenue A" by CMJ. Strictly Platinum gained momentum, even shot to the turn one spot on some college radio stations in New York and Los Angeles, while likewise gaining airplay throughout the U.S. and Canada. The stripe played unrecorded shows all o'er the East Coast and Canada. Strictly Platinum's "Theme Song" and "Flavis Special" were even secondhand on NBC's NBA Roundup and MTV's Slam and Jam. Kirshner took stairs toward musical self-direction by the end of 1996 by origination her own record label, the tongue-in-cheek-named A Big Rich Major Label, and vowing never to signboard with a "genuine" major label over again. She likewise assembled a new ring: Ski Love Ski on freshwater bass, Mike Linn on drums, and DJ Science Center spinning records live. The group recorded the secondment Princess Superstar album, Chief executive officer, which was released in on October 31, 1997. The album again garnered national clap.

Next the album's liberation, Princess Superstar set-aside the Hostile Takeover Tour '98, a six-week tour through the U.S. and Canada, which included acting to a packed menage at the South by Southwest music conference. Playing the Transmusicales de Rennes festival in France with Nashville Pussy followed in December of 1999, as did a mini-jaunt in London. Kirshner likewise exhausted the beginning of 1999 working on her third Princess Superstar album, Concluding of the Great twentieth Century Composers, having again assembled a new mount band (Money Mike Linn on drums, DJ Cutless Supreme manning the turntables and playing guitar, and Walter Sipser holding down bass voice duties). Kirshner likewise chose to rename A Big Rich Major Label, opting or else for The Corrupt Conglomerate for the release of the third album. By the new millennium, Kirshner aquiline up with Curtis Curtis for a fourth album. Princess Superstar Is, which was issued in early 2002, featured collaborations with Kool Keith, the X-Ecutioners' Mista Sinista, Beth Orton, and others. My Machine from 2005 was a construct album set in the year 2080 with high profile dance producers Jacques Lu Cont, Junior Sanchez, Armand Van Helden, and Arthur Baker all lending a helping hand.

Peter Bjorn & John ready two new albums

Peter, Bjorn and John have been working on not one but two new albums, which they plan to release in the coming year.

The first is a "playful" instrumental album slated for an autumn release, frontman Peter Moren told NME.COM.

"It's something we've always wanted to do to have a bit of fun between albums," he said. "It's very melodic and unpretentious and laid-back."

The album contains 10 instrumental tracks recorded in the band's native Stockholm and New York.

Although there's no singing on the album, it does feature a bit of spoken word.

"We each have our own theme song. Mine has my grandfather telling a story in a local dialect, and John's has a haidresser from his village telling a story."

"It's probably going to be called 'Seaside Rock', to tie together the themes of water and sea," Moren said.

Now that the instrumental album is nearly complete, the band have gone back into the studio in Stockholm to work on the proper follow-up to 2006's 'Writer's Block'.

"We've recorded quite a few songs and the idea is to finish it this summer and release it next March," said Moren.

The singer said he doesn't feel pressure to surpass the level of success the band found with their last album and their famous whistling-heavy single 'Young Folks'. "You just have to make something you like and see what happens," he said, adding, "Whistling is banned."

Muse Planning 'Huge' Collaboration for V Festival

MuseRockers Muse are planning a secret collaboration to make their Virgin Mobile V Festival slot blow Glastonbury away, according to the band's drummer, Dom Howard.

The V Festival sold out in minutes, while tickets for Glastonbury -- where rapper Jay-Z is one of the headline acts -- are still available.

Dom says, "We are looking into a big collaboration for V but we need to see if itll work out first.

"Its good to get back out on the road. It keeps us fresh as we dont like to sit around.

"Were doing some shows in Europe and South America but you really have to step it up at a festival.

"Even though we have a good live reputation we put a lot of thought and planning into our shows."

Dom also revealed that the band -- whose last album, Black Holes & Revelations, gained a Mercury Prize nomination -- are well on their way to finishing their next album.

He adds, "Weve written three or four new songs and theyre sounding sweet."

'Hottest MCs In The Game': The Countdown Begins! And #10 Is ...

Flame Thrower: T.I.

Why He's Hot

Hold up. Just last year, T.I. was up for debate to be #1, and now he slips to #10? What happened? First of all, let's be clear: Tip's decline in ranking has nothing to do with his skills. We all know that he is still one of the best in the business. Unfortunately, since almost topping the last list, Tip had to take an unforeseen, unwelcome hiatus when he was arrested in November on a slew of gun charges, leading to more than six months of house arrest. Promotions for his platinum T.I. vs. T.I.P. came to an end. The kibosh was put on the single "Hurt" and its video. Any chance of dropping another LP at the top of '08 was thwarted quick. Movies, endorsements — everything shut down. He says his arrest probably cost him between $10 million and $12 million. Musically, he was inactive for months while many of his peers continued to put out sterling material.

In March, he pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to more than 1,500 hours of community service. He still faces a reported year in prison. But Tip didn't fall completely off the map during his time on the bench. He brought several thousand fans to the Web site StreetCred.com simply by posting a video message telling folks he was OK. Tip's swag was at Hugh Hefner level, talking to his fans via webcam in a robe and slippers. In March, he dominated headlines simply by taking his family to church and speaking on the serious issue of AIDS prevention.

While his popularity transcended music years ago, those rhymes are still the foundation of his ability to generate interest. We've had a few sprinklings of him on remixes here and there, but we just got his full-on return with the first offering from his upcoming Paper Trail, "No Matter What." Although the song has a few indignant retorts for Shawty Lo and others who he feels questioned his street credibility, Tip's commitment to sincere commentary on his life, no matter how painful, will always keep him at four-star-general ranking.

You can bet the house on Tip in 2008. He's back to writing down his raps, which is only going to make him that much deadlier on the mic. Plus, Tip is a fiery beast when everything is all good. Imagine how strong he's going to come now that he feels he has something to prove? The recording sessions for Paper Trail are almost at 100 songs deep, and he's working with Kanye West and longtime collaborator DJ Toomp.

Co-Signer: Lupe Fiasco

"T.I.'s got raw energy. I've been a fan of T.I. since I'm Serious. To me, that was like his Illmatic. The next few albums was cool, but it wasn't like the I'm Serious T.I.P. Then he came on the remix for 'Superstar,' and I was like, 'Yo, dawg. Reeee-diculous!' I think it's the adversity, the time he had to sit down and think and write. Whenever I look at dude's face, it's like he's got a point to prove. Not that he's king of the world or nothing like that, but he always got something to work forward to. That right there is unstoppable."

Blistering Ballistics

"Pain's a small thing to a giant/ I was born without a dime, out the gutter I climbed/ Spoke my mind and didn't stutter one time/ Ali said even the greatest gotta suffer sometimes/ So I huff and puff rhymes, lyrics so sick with it/ Set the standard in Atlanta of how to get, get, get it/ Whether I still live in the 'hood or just visit/ Whatever you can do in the 'hood, I done did it." — From "No Matter What"

Keith Olbermann's tax debt is fuel for feud

ALBANY, N.Y. —

MSNBC pundit Keith Olbermann, who spotlights misbehavior nightly with his "Worst Person in the World" recognition, owes New York state for unpaid business taxes, according to a tax warrant notice.

And his conservative counterparts and bloggers are making sure the debt is fodder in the ongoing political commentators' feud.

Olbermann, the host of "Countdown," owes New York $2,269.50, according to a tax warrant obtained by The Associated Press. State Tax and Finance Department spokesman Tom Bergin said the debt recorded against the TV host's Olbermann Broadcasting Empire Inc., based in Los Angeles, is still open.

MSNBC spokesman Jeremy Gaines called it a bookkeeping disagreement between Olbermann's accountants and the state and said it was resolved months ago.

Bergin said the debt could have been resolved recently, but it has not yet been legally "satisfied" and so remains an open case.

The tax debt has been featured on the blog OlbermannWatch.com, which referred to Olbermann as a "deadbeat," and among Page Six items in the New York Post. The tabloid referred to Olbermann as a "professional angry man" who likes tax-and-spend liberals "but didn't pay his own taxes."

Olbermann has named Fox TV conservative pundit Bill O'Reilly the world's worst person more than a dozen times. News Corp., headed by CEO Rupert Murdoch, owns the New York Post and Fox News Channel, among other properties.
